Hyderabad the capital of Andhra Pradesh, today is the fastest growing and most preferred IT/TTES destination in the country. In addition to this it is also a major investment hub in other areas like Biotechnology and infrastructure. It is popularly referred to as the back office of the world. From technology and R & D to F A B and Animation, from BPO to KPO, EMS to Telecom, Hyderabad has emerged as a location for knowledge-driven and skills-based needs to a high investment business hub.
With a combination of a pro active and business friendly government, high quality infrastructure and a pool of excellent human resources Hyderabad has a lot to offer potential investors as well as job seekers.
Why Hyderabad ?
We look at some of the reasons due to which Hyderabad has been captured to the the status of the destination of choice.
Investment Promotion:
Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The Government Andhra Pradesh has put in place a in place a three-pronged strategy for promoting IT investments.
i) A pro active investor friendly and hassle free govt. Administrative machinery.
ii) Attract new ICT companies that do not have presence in Andhra Pradesh / India through a focused promotion campaign and promote Tier-11 locations in the state for balanced and over all development.
iii) Provide state-of-the art infrastructure through promotion of the IT Parks / SEZs / IT Clustres / Integrated TownShips and promote electronic Hardware Manufacturing Clustures(HMCP) to have a 'plug and play' and 'walk to work' type of environment.
Promotion of Tire-11 IT Hubs in the State:
In spite of successful growth of Hyderabad as the IT hub of the country, The Govt of Andhra Pradesh is actively promoting Tire-11 cities in the State, Viz Vishakapatnam,Vijawada,Warangal,Turapathi, Kakinada as IT growth centers. The promotion of Tire-11 cities will help in providing gainful employment to rural educative youth and enable a balanced social economic development of the state.
Infrastructure:
Andhra Pradesh offers infrastructure that matches global standards in order to support IT sector. The state has attracted some of the best IT Infrastructure Developers to build IT Parks / IT Sezs(special Economic Zone) and IT Townships around the state. The current Total build-up space is approximately 10 million sft. The projected built up space in the next 3 years is 50 million sft. During the year 2005-2006, in order to provide the advantages of SEZ facilities to the ICT sector, the State has recommended and got approval from the Government of India to set up 35 SEZ by the Private IT Sector and another 6 by the state.
Connectivity:
Perhaps the most critical factor that has made Hyderabad a preferred IT destination is its excellent geographical location and proximity by air to all parts of the country. Most of the major cities in India are with in an hour's flying time from Hyderabad which is ideal for visitors from over seas who have to make business trips to more than one city. A number major international carriers cooperate flights from Hyderabad. These are Lufthansa, Emmirates, Singapore Airlines, KLM, Air India, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airlines etc.
International airport:
The Hyderabad International Airport, which is likely to be operational by March 2008 will give a tremendous fillip to Hyderabad not only from business point of view but also from a standpoint of tourism. GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, is a public-private joint venture between GMR Group, Malatia Airports Holdings Berhad and both the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and Airports Authority of India (AAI). GMR Group holds 63% of the equity, MAHB 11%, while government of Andhra Pradesh and Airports Authority of India each hold 13%. The ultimate master plan is to cater to 50 million passenger per annum. To achieve this, the present master plan allows the freedom of expansion to both air side and land side facilities within the Airport site. Further acquisition of land to the north and south will allow expansion of a third and forth runway system.
Hyderabad is nearly equi-distant from the indian cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Internationally too, Hyderabad's geographical location makes it an ideal entry point into India. In addition, the booming IT sector in South India makes Hyderabad a strategic center for business-related travel. The new airport will leverage the multiple advantages of Hyderabad city. The airport's stratigic location will help significantly reduce travel time on domestic and international routes and therefore, dramatically cut down fuel costs. Given its strategic importance, Hyderabad is poised to become an important hub on the global aviation map.
